Sullivan Statement: Caterpillar Leaving Illinois on Pritzker’s Watch

DEERFIELD, IL – Today, one of the largest corporations in Illinois, Caterpillar, announced that it will be moving its headquarters from Deerfield to Irving, Texas. Jesse Sullivan, entrepreneur and outsider candidate for governor, released the following statement in response:

“While Governor Pritzker teases his campaign for president in New Hampshire, the people of Illinois are being left behind. Businesses are leaving for well-run states like Texas and Florida, and families are leaving to escape the Democrats’ sky-high taxes and corruption.

“More than a decade ago, then-Caterpillar CEO Doug Oberhelman begged Illinois politicians to deliver pro-growth tax and regulatory reforms necessary to get our house in order. Politicians looked the other way.

“This is yet another reminder that Illinois is desperately in need of change in Springfield. Self-serving career politicians have sold us out.

“I am a conservative outsider with real-world experience creating jobs and growing businesses in some of the world’s toughest environments, and we can do it right here in Illinois. In two weeks, the people of Illinois can take the first step toward reform by voting for Jesse Sullivan for governor.”
